It's that time of year where I remember that this website exists! It occurred to me that I first started making HTML5 games on here and GameJolt when I was 12 and a 7th grader in middle school. Now I'm 17 and a Junior in high school, with the last time I made a game on here being in 2021. It has been a while, and I would like to get back into gamedev. I first picked it up because it was a free hobby to keep me and my friends busy and entertained during the pandemic, along with my huge love for videogames as a child, especially flash games on sites like here, coolmath games, abcya, Starfall, you know. I was passionate, especially back in 2021 when I made my last game that I put on this website, 'Laurens School'. Every night before I would go to bed, I'd spend 1-3 hours working on the game, doing the coding, artwork, the scenes, composing music for it on Bosca Ceoil, posting updates on here and gamejolt, and even one singular devlog that I posted to youtube (That I later took down because I couldn't stand my voice). I definitely would like to get back into something like that to some extent, but I'm not 13 anymore, I'm 17. I have to worry about maintaining my good grades, wrapping up my last half of high school, applying to colleges, taking the SATs, AP tests, having a job during the summer when I would presumably be working on this the most, etc. I will add that I did try to get back into gamedev last in 2023 with my game Matthew's school, but ultimately did not give because I could not stand drawing with a mouse, my laptop at the time could be flipped in the opposite direction to be like a tablet so I could draw, but the screen was broken so it wouldn't work. The laptop I have now can't do that which doesn't help, though maybe after a prolonged break when I try again it won't be as bad as I remember. The other day I tried composing music on Bosca Ceoil again, but I just couldn't get anything out. The creative juices were not flowing in the same way they did 4 years ago. Though spring break starts next week, while I will be busy during that time for unrelated reasons that won't give me much time to work on these things, maybe once I return I'll be refreshed and ready to restart my gamedev/bosca ceoil music composing hobbies once again!
